Knights of the Round Table
King Arthur’s Knights were so called because they sat round a large circular table which gave precedence to none except for the king. Popularly there are thought to have been twelve Knights but some sources indicate that there were as many as 150. The following are the best known:
Sir Kay
Sir Bedivere
Sir Gareth
Sir Gawain
Sir Lancelot du Lac
Sir Tristan de Lyonnais
Sir Galahad
Sir Perceval
Sir Bors
Sir Ector
Sir Tarquin
Sir Lionel
Sir Mordred*
* Sir Mordred was Arthur’s son and ultimately responsible for his downfall.
