If you are searching for any of your family or forebears on this site, then the following notes may be helpful to you.

Where to look:

Parish Registers

Hollinsclough was in the ancient parish of Alstonefield hence many records are under this heading from 1596.

Longnor Parish registers record births, marriages & deaths from 1690.  Transcriptions from Lichfield Record Office are under the heading Longnor Marriages from 1716-1826.  Some of these may be duplicated in the Longnor records or show slightly different dates, spellings etc.

Quarnford records have been included because a number of people particularly in the ‘top’ end of Hollinsclough parish were often more affiliated to Quarnford than to Longnor.  Due to the proximity of Hartington and Earl Sterndale, just across the river, people often married and had close ties to these parishes.
