Breaking & Entering

1591/92

Robt. Blunt late of Longnor yeom., Robt. Holme of Parke Nabb husbandman, and Hugh Tonycliffe of Merrellgreve husbandman, for breaking into the free tenement of Elizabeth Tonycliffe, wid. in Merrellgreve, 13 Feb. 34 (1591/2), and for disseising the said Elizabeth and keeping her out until the date of this inquisition, contrary to the statute of 8 Hen.vi Sheriff states “I have restored to Elizabeth Tonycliff full and peaceful possession, but the within named Robt., Robt & Hugh have not been found in my bailiwick.”  Done a runner!
