Page 9 Footnote 2 29 May 1800 “Mr Moses Tunnicliffe represents that Mr John Lomas last ??? day ??but only took possession forcibly of a bit of land in Holesclough Field called Field Head (lying next to 10 Days Acr) about a swath wide (2 yards ½ ) & about 20 yards long – and claims it as his own.  This bit of land Mr Tunnicliffe occupied about 12 or 13 years ago & several years preceding when Mr John Lomas rented Samuel Kidd’s Land which he afterwards purchased.  Harrison then became Tenant to Kidd. I ???? the possession 11 years.  Most Part of which time he rented this bit of Land of Mr Tunnicliffe.  At Lady Day 1799 when Lomas took possession of the Estate he purchased 7 Harrison left He (Mr Tunnicliffe) sowed this bit of land with oats.  Mr Lomas afterwards sowed imediately, cut the corn and carried it away green.”

Page 9 Footnote 3 29 May 1800 “Samuel Boothby is old & incapacitated – his wife the same - & a Daughter who lives with them 44 or 45 years of age.  They have Pay from the Liberty Mr Micah Mellor is in possession of a parcel of land & Mr Isaac Wain an overseer of the other Part.  The Overseers wanted it to be let to some Person who would take the Family on them to maintain but oredered that Mr Micah Mellor (who has laid out a great deal of money on Sir Henry’s Estate) should have it, paying the present rent to Sir Henry and that a year towards the maintenance of the Family – being the very outside value of the Premises, not looking to profit.  The Liberty to make up a sufficient payment to the old people.”

Page 10 Footnote 4 “John Moss of Brand Head has a son with four Children.  The son is in service.  He is supposed not to be kindly disposed towards the Son – but the son is extremely well recommended by Mr Goodwin, the master he lives with.”
